BARTON PEVERIL SIXTH FORM COLLEGE
This collaborative artwork was produced to celebrate and promote the Equality and Diversity of the Barton Peveril College community, and the ethos of creating an environment where everyone feels welcome and confident that they will be treated equally and fairly.
A team of staff and students worked on the overall design, the various elements were inspired by the core concepts of the project representing both the immediate and worldwide community, celebrating differences and similarities of every individual and communicating the value of working together and respect for one another. Using the theme of “Identity”, staff and students were invited to submit images they felt represented them and their lives both in and out of the college environment.

COLLABORATIVE DESIGN EVOLUTION
The design for the "target image" was initially developed by a working group of Barton Peveril students. Their brief was to incorporate the visual elements they felt expressed the key project themes of equality, diversity and inclusion.
They included symbolic motifs such as the world, college logo, hands and pieces of a jigsaw as well as images from around the college site. The colour scheme evolved to take inspiration from the rainbow and its inclusive connotations.
The design was then fine-tuned to ensure the mosaic itself would be visually effective on a large scale.
